Welcome To Treasured k9s, Inc. 501(c)(3)

My Jindo's feral nature and wolf-like behavior is one of the things I love best about him.  The nature of the beast is so pure and whole--nothing has been bred out of him.  He is quietly respectful and obedient, yet he thinks for himself in ways that I never realized a dog could.  When I get to see him run, next to me and my horse in the woods, I feel this longing to be a part of a past civilization whose natural order guided every decision made.  He scales sheer cliffs, takes chances running straight down them, balances on logs, nose to the ground, and all the while, knows exactly where my horse and I are, whether in front of or behind him.  He owns the land he travels on when he is free to do as he wishes--and nothing pleases me more than to witness his primitive nature. This is one time I feel truly content and the world somehow makes sense to me.
                                                                                                      -Sherri Harvey, Jindo Owner

*Note: We do not recommend allowing a Jindo off leash in urban and suburban environments. Even in remote locations, a Jindo's prey drive may take over and the Jindo may run off never to be seen again.

ADOPTED: Penny

Penny has been adopted.

Wow! A true move-in-ready dog! Penny is ready for a family of her own. Penny is a 2 yr old Korean Jindo who was found as a stray along with her brother Bolt. Penny is a very petite girl; weighing approximately 35 lbs. Penny is most definitely the smarter of the two and is very much a typical, dominant female Jindo. Penny has a very strong, endearing personality and she constantly monitors and analyzes every situation. She is reserved when meeting strangers but quickly warms up to new people. She loves to give kisses and seems to favor older children. Penny is a bit of a manipulator when it comes to humans, and will use her cuteness to get her way. Penny will excel as an only dog but can be placed with her brother Bolt. She seeks human attention, praise and will be extremely loyal. Penny is an excellent guard dog and considers it her job to patrol her home. Penny is extremely smart and learns new things quickly. When Penny gets excited, she jumps straight up in the air and would probably do well with agility. She walks well on a leash but does have extremely high prey drive. She should NOT be placed with cats or small animals. Penny is a very nice girl and dogs like her don’t come along in rescue very often. Her foster family would gladly adopt Penny and her brother Bolt if they had room for one more. Both are truly special spirits and whoever adopts them will be very, very lucky.  Penny is also crate trained.

Penny and her brother,Bolt entered foster care on April 3, 2010.

Bolt has been adopted.

Wow! A true move-in-ready dog! You are so lucky Bolt is available for adoption. His foster family would adopt him in a heartbeat, if they had room in their pack for one more. Bolt is a 2 yr old Korean Jindo who was found as a stray along with his sister Penny. Bolt is an exceptionally friendly and well balanced boy and will make an excellent family dog. He’s very energetic, loves to give kisses and roll over for belly rubs. Bolt loves, loves to play fetch and ball. His new home better be well stocked with a variety of tennis and squeaky balls. Bolt really wants to be part of a family and will earn his keep as a guard dog. Bolt is a real gem of a Jindo and he’s a true ambassador for the breed. Bolt is a very handsome boy and weighs about 55 pounds. He walks well on a leash and would do well as a running partner. Bolt is crate trained and is exceptionally smart. He learns new things quickly and does very well with strict routine. Although he is very bonded to his sister Penny, we recognize that they may not be able to be adopted out together. Bolt did not show interest in cats, but has not been thoroughly tested with them. Bolt would do better with children over 5 only because he’s still very active and a bit clumsy at times. Bolt is an amazing dog with a very special spirit. Dogs like him don’t come around often, especially in rescue.

Hi Everyone, my name is Mya.  The vet says I am about 1 to 2 years old.  I am a spayed female Border Collie/Lab mix, approximately 35 lbs. in weight. I am a very sweet, shy little girl but I blossom around other dogs.  I am looking for my forever home, preferably a home that is active in outdoor activities because I love to be outside playing with other dogs. I am up to date with routine shots and I am microchipped.  Mya is a rescue from a high kill shelter.

If you are interested in adopting Mya, please submit an adoption application.
